Katherine Stallwood – Quick fire questions!

11 June 2021

We are delighted to welcome Katherine Stallwood to the Peritus team. Katherine will be working under Peritus Wealth advising clients on their pensions, investments and saving provisions.

We had a quick chat to Katherine to get to know her better…

What is a typical day in the life of a financial adviser specialising in Wealth?
Checking the
progress of ongoing cases, speaking with clients, compiling portfolios to help clients achieve their goals.

What are the top three things you enjoy most about your job?
Knowing that my clients are protected should anything happen or their circumstances change, helping clients to understand what policies they have; making a difference for clients.
I make sure that my clients know and understand their investments, pension and protection policies so they know that they can retire at their planned retirement age, or if they need to put things in place to achieve that, such as paying more into their pension, or even having to work longer, or reduce their expectations on the amount their pensions are going to provide.
A lot of client’s don’t realise that they may not have a full state pension to look forward to if they were contracted out of their work pension scheme as this meant paying reduced National Insurance contributions.

What is your favourite memory from work or best project you worked on and why?
Helping a client realise their goal of retiring early, by using cashflow modelling, looking at how their income would be structured and filling the gap until their state pension became payable.

How has Covid changed your day to day?
Day to day nothing has changed as due to the wonders of technology – zoom, Microsoft teams and the internet I can do my job from anywhere!

Do you have any special qualifications?
I have a long term care qualification and am a dementia friend, I took these qualifications as more people are living longer and requiring care, albeit in their own home, or in a care home.

What are you looking forward to working under the Peritus Banner?
Having the support of different arms of the Group; they have a great ethos and looking to grow the wealth side of the business.

What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Never give up, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again as you learn from experiences and become a better person from them.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grow up?
A Teacher, but work experience when I was in secondary school changed my mind!

Name a fun fact about you that people may not know?
I play hockey as well as being a Level 1 umpire.
